MY STORY
Who I am and what I do
Hi, I’m Delores Naskrent, a Canadian artist, illustrator, and surface pattern designer living in a sunny (but sometimes frosty!) spot in Manitoba, Canada.
My creative journey spans over 40 years, blending a love of artistic experimentation with mediums like acrylic paint, ink, markers, and digital tools.
I specialize in designing vibrant, eclectic patterns and spot illustrations—think florals, botanicals, geometrics, and everything in between. These come to life on greeting cards, fabric, wallpaper, home decor, and stationery. Basically, I create the art that makes the things you love a little more beautiful.
When I’m not designing, I’m teaching, which has always been at the heart of what I do. I spent 30 years teaching teenagers graphic design, theatrical art, and fine art—nurturing (and surviving!) their boundless energy with a mix of creativity, toughness, and plenty of coffee.
MY VISION
My Philosophy
My philosophy? I believe art is all about experimentation, joy, and growth. That’s why I love mixing natural and digital mediums, whether I’m creating commercial artwork for licensing or pouring my heart into fine art abstract paintings which I do sell, so I guess they are commercial too! I'd love to teach you all about it.
Along the way, I’m here to encourage you, share advice, and give you the tools to thrive creatively.
Away from the studio, you’ll find me surrounded by family—my husband, kids, grandkids, and my mom, who lives with us in her own little suite enjoying our cozy small-town life. One of my girls lives across the street and works with me in my business. Sunshine, comfy pants, good coffee, and a LOT of laughter are my creative fuel.
WHEN WOULD YOU LIKE TO START?
My mission is simple: to help creatives like you discover your potential and enjoy the process of making art that reflects who you are. Whether you dive into one of my 200+ classes (with new ones every two weeks!) or join me for coaching sessions to map out your next steps, know that you’re entering a community built on curiosity, kindness, and creativity. So grab a sketchbook (and a cup of coffee, of course), and let’s create something amazing together. Cheers!

This year's word: Focus
These days, I focus on teaching adults through my online courses on my own platform, Deloresart School of Art, Illustration and Design. We have an active community too, the Hubspot, and I host a live get together every week called Thrive. I also teach on Skillshare, when I am not too busy. Having guided nearly 100,000 students so far and taught over 2,000,000 minutes, I’m passionate about helping creatives take a deep dive into hands-on projects, practical advice, and a welcoming, encouraging environment. Whether you’re picking up Procreate for the first time or sharpening your professional skills in Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop (and a whole lot more), I make sure my classes meet you right where you are.
LET ME HELP YOU GET THERE
If I can do it, so can you
Art is all about experimentation, joy, and growth—a vibrant, ever-evolving journey that invites you to step outside the expected and dive headfirst into the unknown. It’s like embarking on your own creative adventure, where the possibilities feel endless. At first, you lift off with curiosity and wonder, slowly climbing higher as you try new things, discover your rhythm, and embrace the process. Along the way, you spread your wings wide, letting your unique ideas and quirks take flight, fueling moments of magic and surprising discoveries. And then, finally, you soar—soaring not toward an endpoint, but into a boundless sky full of endless potential, because in art, the sky is never the limit. It’s playful, unpredictable, and a constant reminder that growth isn’t a destination but a delightful, ongoing ride.

I had such a great experience learning from Delores during a 3 month Art Business class. She has an incredible depth of knowledge when it comes to design and marketing art, and she shares it in a way that's both approachable and inspiring. What really stood out to me was how patient and kind she was with everyone, especially those of us just starting out in the art business world. She made even the most complicated topics feel manageable and always took the time to answer questions thoughtfully. It was clear she genuinely wanted each of us to succeed. Delores creates a space where you feel supported and encouraged to grow, no matter where you're starting from. If you're looking for someone who knows the ins and outs of marketing and design and is an amazing teacher, I can't recommend her enough!

I just want to take a few minutes to express my profound gratitude for Delores, for this Art School and for all of you!First of all, Delores, you have become my favourite teacher and I find your classes have been working best for me in developing the kind of artwork I wish to create. I love how personal and warm your feedback is. Not only are you a wonderful artist and teacher, but you are an amazing person!Next, this community is so supportive! My mother was a gifted artist and when I was young, I frustrated myself because I expected my artwork to be as good as hers, not giving myself any slack for just being a kid with no training. My mom encouraged (and framed) nearly everything I did, but I always felt inadequate in comparison to her amazing talent. I focussed on music instead and did a lot of songwriting, and singing. I still love music, but I have fallen in love with art, especial now that I can do it so easily without creating a mess to clean up. When I post my artistic attempts, I am greeted with so much enthusiasm and encouragement that I am overcome with joy. It is so incredibly wonderful to be able to share my pieces with people who can appreciate them and who are, themselves, talented and admired by me.I also love to look at and ruminate upon the work posted by others. The range of creativity and the gorgeous artwork is a feast for my beauty-loving eyes. I love that we celebrate each others' accomplishments with heartfelt enthusiasm. So, everyone, thank-you from the bottom of my heart and soul for sharing yourselves so generously through your artwork, and for helping me feel validated as an artist. You are all wonderful!

I wanted to express my appreciation for all your help in mastering Procreate. You are such a wonderful, patient and encouraging teacher. I just can't say enough about what a great teacher you are. All those decades keeping teenagers focused on fun ways of learning software - has given you a very special touch- and I am so very glad you are teaching us adult learners now. Since discovering your classes, I have just learned so very much more about procreate. It has helped me to take my artwork to new levels. I feel your help has really been the impetus I needed to put some artwork out into the world. Especially motivating for me since every completed class ends with a finished project - these below are some that have made it onto my greeting cards. Your knowledge of the industry, and constant gentle prodding to put things on mockups and get them up for sale, is really the reason I now have 186 greeting cards on POD - and I am happy to say that this year I have sold 577 cards so far this year. Thank you so much - for sharing your skillful teaching with all of us.
